DAY 1 Monday 12 October, 2020 Departure
Today we depart Australia on our overnight flight to Tokyo.

DAY 2 Tuesday 13 October, 2020 Tokyo, Japan
This morning we will arrive into Tokyo. Alfonso says that "Tokyo is one of my favorite cities and I lived there for many years. While the crazy volume of traffic is overwhelming at times it is always an inspiring and surprising place to explore with a camera." On arrival in Tokyo we will be met by our private coach and travel to Asakusa, where we will feel the vibe of an older Tokyo. We are able to take photos of the traditional craft shops and the street food stalls along Nakamise St near the ancient Senso-ji Temple. We continue with a visit to Akihabara where we will find electronic shops, games, magna and anime collectors. We will ask a few cosplay dressers for a street portrait or visit a café for a photo of waitresses dressed in French maid outfits. At dusk we will stop at a busy intersection to mix street lights movements and neon lit buildings. This evening we will enjoy a welcome dinner to formally meet Alfonso and other group members.

DAY 3 Wednesday 14 October, 2020 Tokyo, Japan
We will travel by train to the famous Ginza area to photograph the area before travelling on to Shibuya Crossing, a bustling intersection. We will photograph the movement of crowds while keeping buildings and neon lights in sharp focus. We will visit Shitmachi, where Alfonso lived. He has spent a lot of time in the back streets and alleys with his camera. He will show us his favourite locations for photographs.

DAY 4 Thursday 15 October, 2020 Tokyo, Japan
This morning we will enjoy free time. We will travel by train to the Ginza/ Yurakucho area late afternoon. We will have a lesson from Alfonso on taking architectural photos at dusk and how to photograph street portraits and other eye catching colours and shapes.

DAY 5 Friday 16 October, 2020 Embarkation
The morning is free for last minute sightseeing or shopping. At midday, we will be transferred to Yokohama to embark the Diamond Princess for our 8 day cruise around Japan.

DAY 6 Saturday 17 October, 2020 Day at sea
A day at sea is the perfect opportunity to explore the fabulous facilities of this magnificent ship. This morning Alfonso will give a lesson on how to edit your photos.

DAY 7 Sunday 18 October, 2020 Kushiro, Japan
Today we call into the port of Kushiro, where we visit the most remote eastern part of the island of Hokkaido, and see the breathtaking Lake Mashu. We also see Iozan, an active volcano whose yellow, sulphurous vents can be viewed from up close. We will also make stops during the day to photograph some of the most pristine scenery in this remote area as we travel through the Akan National Park.

DAY 8 Monday 19 October, 2020 Day at sea
A day at sea is the perfect opportunity to explore the fabulous facilities of this magnificent ship. This morning Alfonso will give the group an interesting lesson on Portraiture. This will involve shooting group members in natural light and learning the basics of how to get emotion and perfect composition of individual people shots.

DAY 9 Tuesday 20 October, 2020 Korsakov, Russia
Today we arrive in Korsakov, the sea gateway to the island of Sakhalin. Founded in 1843 as the first Russian military post on the island, Korsakov was ruled by Japan for a period of time before being reclaimed by the Soviet Union. Enjoy beautiful scenery as we travel from the ship to the town of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where there is an interesting mix of Japanese and Russian architecture. We will have the opportunity to put our lessons to good use with photographs of the Regional Museum, which is a Japanese building reminiscent of a pagoda and the Church of St Nicholas, a wooden orthodox church that looks like a gingerbread house. On our way back to the ship, we'll stop at the Korsakov viewing platform which offers stunning views of our ship and the port.

DAY 10 Wednesday 21 October, 2020 Otaru, Japan
Otaru is an important port city on the northern island of Hokkaido, close to Sapporo. The city was home to a thriving herring fleet, as shown by the display of wealth in the Herring Mansions. During the 19th and 20th century ships regularly plied the waters between the port and the island of Sakhalin. Coal was mined in the hills and Otaru won a reputation for producing fine music boxes. On our tour today, we will visit one of the Herring Mansions and have the opportunity to photograph the famous Otaru Canal, a historic mile-long canal that provides both a nostalgic look at the Otaru of yesteryear as well as a unique shopping experience.

DAY 11 Thursday 22 October, 2020 Hakodate, Japan
In 1859, the port of Hakodate became the first Japanese city fully opened to Westerners under the Treaty of Amity and Commerce. Hakodate, once a fishing port famed for its high quality fish and shellfish, quickly became Hokkaido's largest city and one of Japan's most important ports. On our sightseeing tour today, we will visit the local fish market, which will provide wonderful subjects for photographs, before taking the cable car to the summit of Mt. Hakodate where we will be able to photograph the spectacular panoramic views!

DAY 12 Friday 23 October, 2020 Day at sea
A day at sea is the perfect opportunity to explore the fabulous facilities of this magnificent ship. This afternoon we will have a lesson on abstract photography. This will involve challenge-based tasks, treasure hunting pattern, reflections and other close up eye catching colours and shapes. Early evening we will enjoy a drinks party to celebrate the wonderful photography tour that we have enjoyed.

DAY 13 Saturday 24 October, 2020 Disembarkation/Departure
This morning we arrive back in Yokohama and disembark the Diamond Princess. We will travel to Tokyo and the day is free for you to explore. Early evening we are transferred to the airport for our flights back to Australia.

DAY 14 Sunday 25 October, 2020 Australia
Tour members arrive back into Australia and the tour concludes.
